So in early 2017, at the age of 30, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was devastated. I was handed a bag of pills and told to accept my fate and that this was now my life. I was also told that due to the severity of my symptoms and how quickly they had come on, I should brace myself for being wheelchair bound in the next couple of years.
After asking if there was anything else I could do, I was told there was no cure for this disease, that diet hadn’t been proven to make any changes and that people only ease the pain with the medication.
I couldn’t accept this. There had to be something I could do. I first researched all the medications I had been given and made a conscious decision to avoid most of them.
