Does anyone else have an obsession with Avocado right now? No… just me? Oh wait, I knew you did.
Avocado is classed as a “healthy fat”. This means it’s filled with fantastic nutritious benefits including a high vitamin count. An avocado contains nearly 20 different vitamins with the most prevalent being Vitamin K, a vitamin that is great for bone health and hearts.
An avocado is claimed to have more potassium than a banana so for those that have burnt out the banana bus, you have options.
It’s also loaded with fibre which can help contribute towards weight loss.
As you can see, these pear-shaped gods have a lot going for them, and so we’ve compiled a list of the five best ways to eat them:
Everything in moderation, except avocados.
1. Keep it simple – Avocado on toast
Sometimes simplicity is best. Is there anything better than some crushed avocado on toast? We like to add a couple of chilli flakes to give it some added summit summit…
2. Get a bit crazy – Have some avocado fries
No culinary skills needed. Just chop up your avocado into fries, mix with an egg and almond flour and bake.
3. Umm, where’s my guac?
If you haven’t thought about making guacamole with your avocado, then we just need to ask… “You alright? Everything OK?”. Guacamole is the main component to any lads night, girly gossip or TV snack. Just add some garlic, tomatoes, lime juice, cilantro and salt and boom, you have a party starter.
4. Make a mousse
While we’re not sure if it would have benefits for your hair (we’d like to think it does), Avocado has a very mild taste so is perfect for adding extra creaminess to desserts. We love to make chocolate mousses here in Health Hacking and avocado is the ideal addition; giving a soft almost silky texture.
5. Tomato sauce is so 2017
So you’ve organised a BBQ, you’ve got your friends over, and you’re making hotdogs, but you realise you don’t have any Tommy K. No problem, chop up some avocado and add as a topping. If you want to be really crazy, squirt some mayo on to the top and your winning “best BBQ of 2018”.
